Basics about solid surface materialsThere are two different bonding components
- Acrylic resin (PMMA)
- Polyester resin
The composition of solid surface materials is primary 1/3 acrylic resin or polyester resin (sometimes a mixture of both); 2/3 aluminium hydroxide (filling component) plus colour pigments and other additives.
This is the basic recipe; each manufacturer enhances its recipe to achieve different characteristics for their product.
Solid surface materials, based on acrylic resin have a greater thermoformability.
The big choice of solid surface materials enables the user to find the right product for his purpose. The criteria can be the price, the choice of colours, the material properties or the environmental friendliness.

The diversity of processing parameters is a challenge for heating and pressing of solid surface materials.

Our CHS-heating technology is for all brands!
CHS stands for Controlled Hot Air Stream; this method heats the solid surface material from all sides evenly.
You never have to adjust the thickness of the material with hot air and you won’t get colour mismatches caused by heating platens being too tightly adjusted – with CHS the material can expand!
Our experience has shown that the CHS-technology heats solid surface materials homogenous according to their material specifications.
As a result the forming process is smoother and tension-free!
