Manufacture exclusive window sills - the easy way

As long as you take into account a few simple tips, window sills with rounded edges can easily be veneered in your own press.

Have you ever thought of offering your customers exclusive window sills, thus expanding your product palette? Vacuum technology allows you to do this quite easily, as long as you follow the following advice:

  • Use MDF, finer chipboard, or similar material as a substrate.
  • Apply glue to the surface (beginning at the no. 1 on the diagram, ending at the line indicated in the diagram) and insert the work piece, along with the veneer, into your press. The top part of the work piece (with glue applied) should be facing up.
  • As soon as the glue is dried, apply glue to the underside of the work piece (beginning at the no. 2 in the diagram, ending at the line). If the edge's radius is very small, or if the veneer is very brittle, spray a little water onto the veneer.
  • Now, once more insert the work piece into the press for the second pressing cycle. This time, the underside of the work piece (with glue applied) should be facing up.

Once the pressing cycle has ended, you are left with a perfect window sill, and you can apply the last finishing touches!
